The compact size of the British economy car MINI may have gone through small changes over the years but the power within their engines has definitely grown in large proportions. These mini cars have gone from being a fuel efficient day to day vehicle to renowned rally cars. Now, John Cooper’s racing babies are some of the most coveted sports cars in the market.

The MINI John Cooper Works models are popular both in and out of the racetracks. They are available in Hatch, Coupe, Convertible, Roadster and Clubman models which all have amazing interiors and exteriors. More than the physical aspects of the car, MINI JCW fans would be more interested in the performance of the vehicles. The usual specs for these models include a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder/16 valve engine, a maximum output of 211hp at 6000 rpm, 260 Nm at 1850-5600 rpm maximum torque, and 148 mph top speed. These models also come in 6 speed manual transmission with approximately 50 liter of fuel tank capacity. These specifications allow MINI drivers to enjoy the speed with ease and safety.

This year, another addition to the John Cooper line-up is set to be launched. The 2013 MINI John Cooper Works GP is expected to get race car and sports car enthusiasts smitten with its looks and power. MINI fans were given a preview of what to expect from this new addition at the Mini United Festival in France. It features striking side skirts, large aprons in the front and rear, roof spoiler, rear diffuser and four spoke wheels.

While car fans appreciate the peek at the exterior of the car, not much has been said about what is under the hood. It was, however, confirmed that it was able to beat its predecessor’s performance in the Nürburgring Nordschleife by 19 seconds. With this in mind, there can be no doubt in the ability of the new MINI John Cooper Works to fly you through the tracks with its powerful engine and aerodynamics technology. This is certainly another big leap for the MINI vehicle.
