Spring Welcomes the BMW 640d xDrive
Out in the European automobile market is the BMW 640d xDrive that delivers peak performance in a dynamic package. This latest offering in the BMW 6 Series debuted early in 2012 with promises of coupe and convertible formats. Both formats come with the standard all-wheel-drive system, providing excellent stability and traction in whether in dry and loose surfaces or in adverse weather conditions. This entry-level 6 Series diesel-powered coup has been pumped up with innovations that make it a worthy addition to this BMW line.
The BMW 640d xDrive runs on a twin-power turbo technology V8 engine with a maximum power of 300k. The intelligent all-wheel-drive system that this new 6 Series BMW has been beefed up with effectively improves driving pleasure. This feature integrates with the Dynamic Stability Control to accurately identify and evaluate road conditions for proactive control intervention. This performance control feature allows for greater grip on understeering and oversteering.
As in other models in the series, the 640d xDrive is fitted with an 8-speed Sports automatic gearbox that can go from 0 to 100 kph in mere 5.2 seconds. The electronic control system in this model varies torque distribution to efficiently split power between the front and rear wheels as required by changing driving conditions. This particular model has a peak torque of 630 Newton meters. Its engine guzzles up diesel at 40mpg and emits CO2 at 149-153 grams per kilometer.
Inside this BMW 6 Series model is the same luxurious interior this German automobile manufacturer stamps its cars with. The 4-seater interior is fitted with comfort-enhancing features such as the 2-zone automatic climate control, the electric steering column adjustment, the electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, and a rain sensor with an automatic headlight range control. Sound-tripping while cruising is also made more pleasurable with the BMW 640d xDrive’s high-end surround sound system. Of course, no 6 Series would be complete without the driver assistance and mobility features of the BMW Connected Drive.
